Let us take care of them

Target the places mosquitoes rest—not just the open air.

Mosquitoes can contribute to potential health problems for your family and pets. Mosquito control consists of fogging the landscape and areas around the home to reduce health hazards associated with West Nile virus and Zika virus, along with heartworms in pets. Examples of the areas we treat include shrubs, spaces under decks and gazebos, and the underside of roofline overhangs. You can expect about 30 to 40 days of reasonable control per application.

Additionally, removing or replacing stagnant water around your home will dramatically aid in the control of these pests.

Mid-June

Refresh coverage as summer moisture and shade create new resting zones.

Mid-July

Maintain protection during one of Southern Indiana’s busiest mosquito periods.

Mid-August

Carry the program through late-summer outdoor living and continued breeding pressure.

Let us protect your yard.

Did you know mosquitoes love to hang out in plants and trees around the yard? Our technicians use a fogger, similar to a leaf blower, to fog the underside of plants and trees and kill mosquitoes hiding there. If you live near water, such as a pond or river, we also treat the grass and other landscape features.

Slow-moving or stagnant water creates ideal breeding pressure. That is why we take extra steps on properties with nearby water. Even without a pond or river, mosquitoes can still find their way into the yard. We work to create a solution that effectively reduces mosquitoes in your lawn.

Mosquito questions

A clearer plan for peak season.

Mosquitoes are among the worst insect pests. Their itchy, painful bites are a nuisance, but the greater concern is that they can carry potentially fatal diseases. Mosquito season lasts from summer to fall, and precautions help avoid West Nile virus and Zika virus, two common mosquito-borne illnesses in the United States. Neither has a cure or vaccine, so avoiding bites is important. Insect repellent is a first line of defense, and a professionally applied barrier spray can reduce potentially dangerous mosquitoes around the home and yard.
Mosquito season is typically May through October, although weather changes each year. Populations begin to grow as temperatures warm, often when overnight temperatures remain above 50 degrees. Activity usually peaks from June through August and may not drop until cooler October and November temperatures arrive. Take extra precautions around dawn and dusk, when mosquitoes known to carry West Nile virus are most active. Wear insect repellent, long sleeves and pants when possible.
Large numbers may mean the property has become a mosquito paradise without you realizing it. Mosquitoes are drawn to wet, shady environments and need water to breed. Even a tiny amount of standing water attracts them, and eggs can hatch after seven days. Dump and replace birdbath or plastic-pool water every two days. Check trash-can lids, plant pots, furniture, gutters, rain spouts, buckets, yard toys and lawn puddles. Mosquitoes also nest under porches and in overgrown plants, so keeping plants and bushes neat and trimmed helps discourage them.
Absolutely. For families determined to reduce mosquito pressure, professional control is a strong option. Fogging can eliminate much of the mosquito population and larvae while leaving a 30- to 40-day residual. A lawn program may not correct everything, so proper maintenance and removal of standing water remain important.
Fogging can keep mosquitoes away effectively for 30 to 40 days. After the barrier spray has been in place for about a month, sunlight begins to break the product down. During mosquito season, we recommend monthly retreatment for the best protection.
The fogging product needs about half an hour to dry. Once it has dried for roughly 30 minutes, the product is set. Rain or ordinary water will not change its effectiveness because built-in stickers help it adhere to treated surfaces. Sunlight eventually breaks the spray down after 30 to 40 days, but water does not remove it.
